The 31-year-old, who is currently on loan with League Two side Crewe Alexandra, is waiting for further news on how the 2019/20 season will be concluded.

Until then, Nottingham will remain in lockdown at home - where the defender is enjoying some valuable time with his family.

“It’s been weird, but I’m sure it’s the same for everybody,” he told The Gazette.

“It’s not ideal but I’ve tried to take the positives out of it. I’ve spent a lot of time with the family at home which has been really nice.

“In terms of the training side of it, I’m still ticking over every single day doing bits and bobs and doing a lot of running.

“I’m trying to keep fit but it’s obviously not the same as your football match fitness, but you’ve just got to do everything you can.

“It’s also important to try and keep your mind active, I think it’s very important. You’ve got to keep yourself mentally right.

“I’m just taking it day-by-day and just waiting to hear some news on how we’re going to go forward and what’s going to happen in the future.”

Before the coronavirus outbreak, Crewe boss Dave Artell went on record with his intention to sign Nottingham on a permanent basis.

“It shows you I’ve done something right since I’ve been there,” the out-of-contract defender added.

“I’ve only played 12 games but I really do feel the energy from them, they do seem to like me.

“It’s not a bad place to play football, it’s very, very good and he’s a good manager to play under.

“If I keep doing the good things, I’ll have myself a predicament at the end of the season in terms of what I want to do.

“But it’s not a bad predicament at all to feel wanted by more than one person.”
