It follows news that Chris Maxwell has tested positive for coronavirus along with Matty Virtue, with the pair now due to enter a period of self-isolation.

With Jack Sims, who is currently out injured, and Alex Fojticek registered as Under-21 players, that permitted the Seasiders to bring in another shot stopper on an emergency loan deal that will be reviewed in a weeks’ time.

Walker, who will make his Blackpool debut against Rochdale on Boxing Day, has been battling it out for Reading’s number two jersey this season.

The 29-year-old hasn’t made an appearance for the Royals this season and is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Having joined from Colchester United in 2018, Walker played against the Seasiders last season during the two FA Cup games.

He made five appearances in total last term, which all came in the same cup competition, and nine appearances during his debut season at the Madejski Stadium.
