Heys joins the club from Macclesfield Town, where he held the position of general manager for the last two years.

Prior to that, he was Accrington Stanley's chief executive and managing director for more than 10 years.

Heys said: "There is a great team of people behind the scenes at the club, who have all made me feel very welcome and I am looking forward to working with everyone here as the new season kicks off.

"My role is to bring money in to support our manager, helping to ensure that we are as competitive as possible on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon and also to ensure that Blackpool FC is playing it’s part in working with the local business community."

In 2013, Heys was suspended from all football activity for 21 months for betting offences.
