Blackpool name first team of pre-season - with decision made on approach for AFC Fylde friendly

Blackpool take on AFC Fylde in their first friendly of pre-season.

Blackpool have named two teams for their first run out of the summer.

The Seasiders start their schedule of pre-season friendlies with a short trip to Mill Farm to take on National League North champions AFC Fylde.

For this afternoon’s game, head coach Ian Evatt has named an XI for each half, with 11 changes set to be made at the break.

For the opening 45 minutes, the team is: Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Andy Lyons, Oluchukwu Nwankwo, Zac Ashworth, CJ Hamilton, Jordan Brown, Albie Morgan, George Honeyman, Ilmari Niskanen, Tom Bloxham, Dale Taylor.

On paper, this looks set to be the wing-back system that was most frequently used by Evatt on the back of his appointment back in October.

This could see Lyons form part of the back three, with teenager Nwankwo in the central role.

Several other youngsters will get opportunities after the break, alongside three trialists.

The full second half XI is (in number order): Franco Ravizzoli, Leighton Clarkson, Niall Ennis, Hayden Coulson, Dion Charles, Trialist A, Trialist B, Trialist C, Theo Upton, George Elder, Jack Richardson.

Michael Ihiekwe and Fraser Horsfall both remain absent as they continue their rehabs following surgery, while Josh Bowler and Olly Casey the other senior players not involved.
