Birmingham City v Blackpool - live updates

Key Events

  • LIVE: Birmingham City 1-0 Blackpool
  • Seasiders bidding for first win in five
  • Home side plagued by injuries and suspensions

That’s lovely combination play from Demetri Mitchell and Keshi Anderson. Anderson plays a ball into the middle which almost finds Mitchell, but keeper Matija Sarkic does well to beat him to it.

Really good play though from the Seasiders.

Blackpool counter quickly after Marc Roberts’ long throw is well caught by Dan Grimshaw.

He tees it up for Reece James, who slips in Owen Dale - but Dion Sanderson recovers well to make the sliding challenge in the final third.

I realise that’s not much of an update, but there’s not a great deal else to talk about at the moment.

Still not a great deal in this. Birmingham look the more threatening side when the ball is in the air, Blackpool when it’s on the floor.

Expert analysis, I know.

Dujon Sterling curls a teasing cross into the Birmingham box where three teammates are waiting, but all three remain motionless and the chances goes begging...again.

26 - Comes to nothing

Keshi Anderson floats in a nice-looking cross towards Owen Dale, but keeper Matija Sarkic - brother of Blackpool’s Oliver - is off his line quickly to claim.

Owen Dale produced a sublime volley in the build-up to tee up Anderson on the opposite side.

23 - Not a classic, so far...

Jordan Graham curls in a free-kick from a dangerous area for the hosts, but his delivery beats everyone and goes behind for a Blackpool goal kick.

It’s not been entertaining stuff so far. Let’s hope that soon changes.

Demetri Mitchell should do better there. He cuts in from the right flank, leaving acres of space for Dujon Sterling to run into on the overlap. Mitchell initially ignores him but does make the pass a second later, but by then the full-back is offside.

Poor decision-making there from Mitchell.

Keshi Anderson does well down the left, pulling the ball back into the centre where Gary Madine gets across his man to flick just over. Good chance.

Callum Connolly makes a superb block to charge down a Birmingham shot on the edge of the area following a bit of pinball in the Blackpool box.

Dan Grimshaw is forced to do a few kick-ups to deal with James Husband’s passback, which was a bit too lofted for his liking. He eventually tees it up and volleys it away expertly though.
