And it's Liverpool under-23 manager Neil Critchley who has been given the nod - the 41-year-old joins the Tangerines from the reigning Champions League holders with immediate effect.

Owner Simon Sadler said: “Neil is a highly-regarded coach who impressed us with his thorough preparation and analysis of the team. We want this club to represent the town and community by playing entertaining football, working hard and being organised. We firmly believe that Neil can deliver this and lay down the blueprint for our footballing philosophy.

@OrrinCutsHair: "A man to back. In saddler we trust!"

@Frank5y: "Right let’s get behind this guy."

@AndyBarber8: "Everyone complaining Critchley hasn’t got as much experience as Evatt. Difference being this guy has worked with one of the best managers in the world. Brought through good players, and is an extremely good coach. Top class appointment imo."

@josephpbfc: "Announce Champions League!"

@Bullwinkle76: "Outstanding appointment!"

@TheWhittards: "Welcome to Bloomfield Road."

@bfcdannymorgan: "Really think this could be a top appointment this, very excited to see us play under him."

@TangerineRob: "Exciting appointment on paper."

@Blackpool1953_: "Everyone has got to start somewhere and any manager that you appoint is always a gamble. Experience doesn’t always guarantee success and having worked closely with Klopp I’d expect he’s picked up a trick or two."

@YungRiff: "Time to build something special. Onwards and upwards."

@simoans: "Congratulations on appointing someone from outside the usual suspects of the Managerial Merry-go-round and someone with a great pedigree and doubtless fantastic contacts within the game. Welcome Neil and good luck I’m sure the rest of the season is going to be a blast!
