Blackpool FC Community Trust A team contested the EFL Trust Futsal Cup round two at Birmingham Arena.

The Trust were drawn in Group A against Peterborough United, Sheffield United, Burton Albion and national champions Grimsby Town, who Blackpool beat in an early qualifying round.

First up for the Seasiders were Burton Albion who Blackpool beat 3-0, with goals from Grant Copeland (2) and Luke Harris (1).

Next up were Peterborough United who beat Blackpool 3-1, with the Trust’s goal coming from Lewis Martin.

Blackpool’s third game was against Sheffield United with the Seasiders needing to win and doing so 2-1 with Ellis Tester scoring both goals.

Blackpool’s last game saw them play group leaders Grimsby Town, who were yet to concede a goal in their three previous games.

Blackpool conceded two early goals but replied through Luke Harris to make it 2-1 before Grimsby added two more as the Seasiders ran out of steam.

This result meant the Trust was out of this year’s cup competition but the team can be extremely proud that they have got this far against national league opposition.
