The Seasiders found themselves three down after a shambolic half an hour at Bloomfield Road against fellow strugglers Shrewsbury.

Micky Mellon’s side races into the most unlikely of leads when Nathaniel Knight-Percival scored a stunning overhead kick before Shaun Whalley made the most of terrible defending to make it two.

Former Fleetwood man Andy Mangan compiled Pool’s misery with a superb strike after being teed-up by Whalley ten yards from goals.

With Pool heading for the worst half of their season, Tom Aldred dragged them back into it late in the half by pulling a goal back but normal service soon resumed.

After the break the Seasiders were much improved as Shrewsbury ran out of steam, but Danny Philliskirk’s superb strike was too little too late.

There were positives, but it was well and truly a day to forget for Blackpool.
