B&DYFL match of the week: CN Sports v Clifton Rangers Hornets
We’re glad we went back for more as, now playing in the top division of the under-eights’ competition, these teams served up another treat at Common Edge.
“It was even on the same pitch – number 11,” said CN Sports boss Mike James.

“The first half was tight but Clifton really showed up and it is a really competitive division this season.
“We’ve had an okay start but it’s good that all the teams are beating each other.”
The Hornets’ manager, Michael Treece-Birch, added: “I said we were getting closer to CN Sports last time we featured as the match of the week and we’re continuing to make progress.

“Last time we were in the top division, we didn’t win a game, but I’m super proud of these players.
“They are putting into practice what they are doing in training, the teamwork is really good and everything is coming together.”
Both teams have warmly welcomed new faces this season.
CN Sports’ Mike said: “We needed to add to a small squad and we’ve introduced two lads, Bobby and Elijah, who have been brilliant.”

Hornets’ Michael added: “Ezra has joined us from another Clifton team and is a hard-working midfielder with a great shot.
“We’re confident we can compete in this league.”
Their player of the match award was shared between outstanding winger Rudy and commanding defender Harrison.
The CN Sports star player was Henry, a tough-tackling midfielder who plays up a year.
