Attack is on the menu for Town floodlit feast

Tuesday night football is just the tonic for Fleetwood boss Uwe Rosler, who says Town's floodlit clash with Bradford has all the ingredients for a blockbuster game.

Bradford are expected to bring thousands of fans to the Fylde coast tonight and both teams are expected to set up for all out attack.

Town are fourth in League One on the back of a 14-game unbeaten run, a point and a place above Stuart McCall’s Bradford, and Rosler hopes his men can build on their recent Tuesday night successes in this Roses clash.

He said: “We played at their place, where 18-20,000 have season tickets. It is just exciting for us to play against those clubs. We probably had some of our best games on Tuesday evenings.

“The floodlights and extra adrenaline bring five or 10 per cent more out of my players, especially when you play against a team like Bradford, who have a big following. I think the stadium will probably be full because I guess they will bring 2,000 with them, so that will be exciting for us.”

Rosler joked that he would make 10 changes for the game, with only keeper Alex Cairns keeping his place from Saturday’s draw with Rochdale. However, he was as evasive as ever on the fitness of Conor McLaughlin (ankle), Nathan Pond (knee) and Wes Burns (leg).

The head coach said: “I never speak about who will start, who will not start or how many changes we make.

“We will try to select the players we think are best suited to win the game from the start.

“I think it will be very difficult (for Conor) to start, so the decision (at right wing-back) will be between Victor Nirennold and Jack Sowerby.

“Wes is in doubt, not written off but in doubt.”

Bradford lost long-serving striker James Hanson to promotion rivals Sheffield United last month but Rosler says they are no weaker after adding Carlisle hotshot Charlie Wyke, who scored against Town in the Checkatrade Trophy in November.

Rosler reckons Wyke is a good signing and said: “I think sometimes it is very wise to go for players who have not been at League One or Championship level because they have extra motivation, extra hunger, extra want to prove a point.

“I think it is a very shrewd signing because he is coming from a team who did very well. He is coming from one club with a top-six mentality, Carlisle, to another.

“I think Hanson is a real handful and a very good buy for Sheffield United. Sometimes when a player has a number of years at one club he needs a fresh challenge. I think Hanson will relish that challenge, like Wyke will.

“I don’t think Bradford got weaker – I think they got more flexible with the numbers and quality they brought in, and I look forward to the game.

“I don’t think they will come here to look too much at us and I think we are not going into the game to look too much at them.

“I think the two teams will not try to cancel each other out, like we saw on Saturday. I think it will be a more open game and probably more chances on both sides.”
