The 34-year-old Neal moves to Mill Farm as a free agent, having spent the past two seasons with Salford.

Having started his career at Preston North End, Neal has gone on to make close to 250 EFL appearances, half of them over four seasons with Port Vale (2012-16).

Two seasons at Highbury were followed by two more at Salford, for whom he played 15 times in League Two least season.

In the previous campaign Neal racked up 50 games for the Ammies and played in all three victories over Fylde, including the National League play-off final at Wembley.

He told the AFC Fylde website: “Moving here really appealed to me. The direction the club wants to go in is great.

“What happened last year with relegation we are hoping was just a blip. For some reason it was a bit of an off-season but hopefully we can rectify that this season.

“Nothing in football is a given, but having spoken with Jim (Bentley, manager) it’s clear that the vision this club has is to be in the Football League and that appeals to any footballer.

“It’s a club that wants to go places and I want to be part of that. I can’t wait to get going now.”

Bentley said: “I’ve known Chris for many years and have always rated him as a good solid goalkeeper.

“He’s a top professional, a good person and has had success in his career, so he knows what it takes.

“Chris is determined to add to that success here at Fylde and I am very pleased he’s on board with us.”

Defender Jameson has left the club, after his two-year contract was terminated a year early by mutual agreement.

The 21-year-old arrived at Mill Farm following his release by West Bromwich Albion, having spent the 2018-19 season on loan with Barrow.

He made 21 Coasters appearances, 19 of the in the National League, but had not featured for two months when the season was curtailed.

News of Neal and Jameson came a day after Fylde confirmed the sale of Tom Walker and Jordan Williams to Harrogate Town and Stockport County respectively.
