AFC Fylde must wait to find out FA Trophy last-16 opponents

AFC Fylde will face either Eastleigh or Southport in round five of this season’s FA Trophy at the end of the month.

Monday afternoon’s draw handed the Coasters a home tie for the first time this season in the last 16, which takes place on Saturday, January 31.

Fylde booked their place at that stage with a second successive win on penalties, beating Hereford last Saturday after a shootout victory over Solihull Moors on December 13.

That in turn, followed on from victory in the second round at Spennymoor Town on November 15.

Victory will also be worth £6,000 from the competition’s central prize fund, with losing teams taking home £1,750.

Ticket details for the game will be confirmed in due course.

Progress into the fifth round means the postponement of the National League North match against Marine at Mill Farm, which was due to be played on the 31st.

Eastleigh’s match with Southport is one of eight Trophy matches scheduled to be played on Tuesday.

That was one of seven weekend games called off amid freezing temperatures with the others being Bath City v Southend United, FC Halifax Town v Anstey Nomads, Hornchurch v AFC Telford United, Kidderminster Harriers v Morecambe, Scunthorpe United v Clitheroe and Tamworth v Rochdale.

The tie between Woking and Macclesfield had already been moved to Tuesday because of the Silkmen’s FA Cup match with Crystal Palace.
