The young Coasters visit Cambridge United in a third-round tie to be played at Newmarket Town FC, with a 6pm kick-off.

Fylde have never progressed to this stage of the competition before but the build-up has been overshadowed by the death of 17-year-old Bennett, from Chorley, in a tragic accident 11 days ago.

Fylde team boss Conrad Prendergast told the club website: “It’s been a really difficult time for the players and staff. We’ve spoken a lot about the game, and how we want to go there and do it for Luke and his family.

“It’s going to be a really emotional night for us all, going there without him – we want to do him proud.”

It will be Fylde’s first competitive game since beating Sunderland 3-1 in the previous round almost four months ago, with a mouthwatering tie away to Chelsea awaiting the winners in round four.

Prendergast added: “It’s going to be a different game completely, especially away from home on a 3G surface.

“We’re the underdogs again. We will just go there and do what we are good at. If that is enough to win the game, then brilliant.”
