St Annes Cricket Club Under-10 A defeated Fleetwood by 20 runs when they met in an exciting Palace Shield encounter.

The hosts finished with a nett score of 250 at Vernon Road, while Fleetwood made 230.

Under this scoring system, teams start with 200 and lose five for each dismissal.

St Annes scored 75 with the bat and lost five wickets in the process.

Their top scorer was captain Rory Urquhart with 20 (nett 10 as he was out twice), while Spencer Evans returned figures of 2-8 from his three overs.

Fleetwood scored more runs with 90 but their 12 dismissals ultimately cost them the match.

Harry Willis was their top scorer with 21 (nett 16), while there were two wickets apiece for Charlie Ludham, Joe Mayall, Jack Trohear and Ethan Ncholas.

The win lifts St Annes to third in group A with two wins out of five.

They are level on points with Great Eccleston who have played a game fewer.

Fleetwood, for their part, are fifth with two wins out of six.
