Stephen Wright’s 115 was the key to Fylde’s 53-run win over Hoghton. The opener fired five sixes and nine fours to help Fylde to 172, which proved more than enough as the visitors were dismissed for 119 (Darren Eccles 54, SDamir Aga 4-15). There was bound to be a Fylde coast winner as Great Eccleston met South Shore, who did a brave job of chasing the premier division side’s 255-9.

Kal Umerji fired 85 for Ecc and the Shore reply fell 12 runs short, despite M Rowley’s gallant 103. Kirkham and Wesham progressed to the second round of the Loxham Cup with a 54-run win over Great Eccleston 2. K&W oepeners Michael Brooks and Derek Turner made 87 and 48 respectively in their 225-8 (Phil Booth 4-37) before Ecc were all out for 171 ( Reza Hussain 53, Ismail Padia 3-20).
