British lightweight champion Scott Cardle and former England winger Trevor Sinclair took part in the three-mile sponsored run for the hugely successful Sharpstyle Boxing and Fitness Club in South Shore.

The event was organised by the club’s volunteer coach Ryan Smith, fondly known by everyone associated with the Bagot Street club as ‘Big Ryan’.

Sharpstyle hit the headlines in The Gazette and in the boxing world earlier this month when three of its boxers – Jake Abrol, Danny Robb and Frank Varey – won national junior titles. Money raised from the three-mile run between Sharpstyle and North Pier will help fund a trip to the USA for club members.

Ryan told The Gazette: “Thanks to everyone who supported us on the run.

“I did it twice – with Trevor and with Scotty – and we’re made up to have raised so much.”

Cardle is Lytham’s British lightweight champion, while Sinclair is a BBC football pundit covering Euro 2016.

Ryan added: “The club is doing really well and new members are always welcome along.” For details visit www.sharpstyleboxingfitness.com or email sharpstyleboxing@
