Here are some of the fighters who have fought for top titles and, in most cases, had their hands lifted in triumph by the referee.
In all cases, they have put the coast on the map with their bold endeavours inside the ring.
7. Jack Arnfield
Talented middleweight boxer Jack Anfield challenged twice for the British middleweight title.
In November 2015 Arnfield fought for the British middleweight title against defending champion Nick Blackwell, who became well known later on after bravely fighting back from a serious injury in the ring.
Arnfield fought well against Blackwell but lost a twelve-round unanimous decision.
Two years later he fought for the British middleweight title, again losing by unanimous decision over 12 rounds, this time to Tommy Langford. Photo: BEG
