Blackpool school pupils are aiming high in basketball this term.

Standalone tournaments are taking place for the various age groups and Montgomery High School staged one for Year 11 boys last week, kindly inviting AllStars along to cover the event.

However, it was St Mary’s who emerged victorious at the All Hallows Road school, as their second team won the competition and their first team finished runners-up.

St George’s came home third, with the two Montgomery teams taking fourth and fifth places.

Montgomery’s curriculum leader of PE Mel Campbell found the tournament highly worthwhile.

She told All Stars: “It was a good atmosphere and our lads certainly enjoy it.

“ They don’t do PE in Year 11 unless they have opted for GCSE or BTEC.”
