“I’m really happy to be here”: Midfielder makes loan move to AFC Fylde
AFC Fylde loan midfielder from a fellow National League club.
AFC Fylde have signed Yeovil Town midfielder Luke McCormick on loan until January.
The 27-year-old had been appointed Yeovil captain over the summer before going on to score six goals in his first eight appearances this season.
The last of those came when Fylde won 4-1 at Huish Park on September 12.
However, he hasn’t featured for the Glovers since their draw at Aldershot three days later, with manager Billy Rowley later saying there had been ‘a bit of a dispute’ between himself and the player.
Once McCormick’s move to Mill Farm was confirmed on Thursday evening, the player said: “I’m really happy to be here.
“It’s a club on the up, having been promoted last year, and have started the season excellently, so much so that we’re in the play-offs.
“I’m just hoping to add to what is a brilliant group already and hopefully we can have a successful period.”
McCormick came through the youth system at Chelsea and was loaned to Shrewsbury Town and Bristol Rovers before joining AFC Wimbledon in 2021.
A year there ended with a return to Bristol Rovers on a permanent basis, having agreed a three-year contract.
He featured for two-and-a-half of those years before joining Forest Green Rovers on loan for the second part of the 2024/25 season.
Once that deal was up, he was released by Bristol Rovers and joined Yeovil on an initial year’s contract, which was subsequently extended through to the end of the 2027/28 season.
Fylde head coach Craig Mahon added: “Luke is a player whose technical ability fits perfectly with the way we want to play at Fylde.
“He’s comfortable on the ball, has real quality in possession and, importantly, has goals in his game from midfield.
“We believe he’ll add another dimension to the team and we’re delighted to bring him to the club.”
