Popular ‘90s film Father of the Bride, starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, will soon return for a reunion.

Netflix has teamed up with co-writer Nancy Meyers to gather members of the original cast, including Martin and Keaton, alongside Kieran Culkin, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and George Newbern, for what will be a combined reunion and mini-sequel.

The mini-sequel is also set to feature “a few special guests.”

Reunion in aid of charity

The mini-sequel, named ‘Part 3 (ish)’, is in aid of charity World Central Kitchen, and will be hosted on Netflix’s YouTube and Facebook channels on Friday 25 September 2020, at 3pm PT time, which will be 11pm in the UK.

The first Father of the Bride film, which saw Steve Martin’s character of George Banks walk daughter Annie down the aisle, was released in 1991.

The 1995 sequel saw Martin’s character welcome both a child and a grandchild, who will now both be aged 25.

Addressing what the character of George Banks would be like today, Producer Nancy Meyers, “If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020?”

Will there be a reboot of Father of the Bride?

There has been talk of a reboot of the 1995 Father of the Bride film, which itself was a remake of the 1950 original, starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor.

However, a reboot of the iconic film has not yet been confirmed.
