The latest England football shirt has been released ahead of the Three Lions’ UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Featuring nods to the 90s and promoting a message of togetherness, the Nike kits depict a “community of lions” – players and fans together, united in sharing a dream.

Harry Kane paid tribute to the shirt, stating: “This team is closer than it’s ever been before — when we put on that England jersey, all club rivalries are set aside.”

He added “We’re united in our goal of representing our fans far and wide. This collection captures that feeling of togetherness we hold so dearly.”

90s inspired

Modelled by Marcus Rashford, the home shirt’s traditional white is complimented by a dark blue crew neck and side stripes.

The navy trim is embossed with a unique “community of lions” graphic. Like the 1998 World Cup shirt, the three lions emblem is located in the middle of the torso, above the iconic Nike Swoosh. The 1998 kit has become synonymous with Michael Owen’s magnificent solo goal against Argentina, and England’s heartbreaking defeat to the South American nation.

The kit is completed with dark blue shorts and white socks.

If the home shirt is traditional, the away kit is anything but, presented head-to-toe in bright blue. The blue is complimented by a red Three Lions crest, stripes and a red Nike Swoosh.

The shirt features another nod to ’90s jersey design with a fold-down collar, fastened by a button inscribed with the words “We are Lions/We are England.”

The names and numbers on both home and away are printed in an exclusive font inspired by the Three Lions’ identity.

The team’s pre-match jersey comes in a vivid red, which is adorned by another all-over, ’90s-inspired illustration.

Capitalising on the feel-good factor

Vice President for Nike Football Scott Munson said that the kit draws on the positivity surrounding the current team.

He said: “There is a feel-good factor surrounding the England team, and we wanted to capture all that vibrancy and try some new things,” he said.

“The collection balances a classic home identity with an adventurous, eye-catching away kit.”
