Born on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean, Hamilton came from humble beginnings and later went on to take a role in the militia as the American Revolutionary War began against Britain’s King George III.

After the war, he was then elected as a representative from New York to the Congress of the Confederation.

He is also responsible for founding the first bank in North American - the Bank of New York - before going on to work as a lawyer.

However, he is most famed for being one of the American leaders who united the Thirteen Colonies, led the war for independence from Great Britain, and helped build a frame of government for the United States in the 18th century.
