Detectives continue to hunt the attacker who punched a teenager to the ground, fracturing his skull, in Blackpool town centre.

The 17-year-old victim, understood to be a soldier, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital after being knocked out in the fracas, which happened at around 12.30am on Sunday, July 1.

He is understood to be recovering – after medics at Preston, which specialises in major head injuries, were put on standby for his arrival.

One witness said he was working nearby when he saw a “big argument between two big groups of people” in Church Street, before “one of the lads took off his shirt, ran up to another lad, and punched him.”
