YouTube reviewer cancels Blackpool hotel stay after being disgusted by unclean room
Katie Myers, who runs the Myers Family Vlogs YouTube channel focused on reviewing hotels, has told her audience to avoid the Sky City Hotel on Hornby Road in Blackpool after she cut her stay short due to the uncleanliness of the room.
Mrs Myers paid £23.12 for her room at the Sky City hotel but did not stay end up completing her stay, explaining her reason in a recent video review in which she said ‘oh my god, look at that,’ upon encountering brown stains on the bottom of her mattress.

Hide AdThe hotel also features a shared toilet for multiple rooms, prompting Mrs Myers to assess the facilities and prompting her t say: “No soap and you do not get a shower here either.”
She also added: “I guess if you’re needing somewhere to put your head down - if you’ve had a night out - then it will do the job, won’t it? I think I’m going to skip it, but I like to show people what’s available and exactly what you get and how much it costs.”
The Director of the hoteliers group, Stay Blackpool, Ian White said: “Blackpool's Short Stay Accommodation sector has an amazing number of good and great accommodation. However there remain some that really let the town and themselves down.
“StayBlackpool has long called for a ‘License to Trade’ to ensure all that standards are driven up [and] to ensure a more level playing field for the sector while offering those staying the certainty that all accommodation is Legal Safe and Clean. As the town continues its journey for the return of larger conferences, the need to start managing the sector gets more desperate.”

Hide AdThe hotel had a 2.6 rating on Booking.com, and is not currently taking reservations on the Booking.com website. The Sky City hotel has received bad reviews on things from staff, comfort and value for money.
The Blackpool Gazette has approached the hotel for comment.
