Children at Clifton Lodge Nursery, St Annes, went all out to make bright Easter bonnets as part of celebrations.

Youngsters have been learning about the values of Easter, joining a nursery songs of praise event at St Thomas Church and making their own Easter bonnets for a special parade on Thursday.

This week the children will be watching as eggs hatch in their own incubator, for the toddlers to learn about the life cycle of chickens.

It is not their first egg encounter though - children discovered ‘dinosaur eggs’ in the nursery grounds off Clifton Drive South, bringing them inside to hatch a range of dinosaurs.

Nursery deputy manager Rebecca Tozer said: “We’ve been celebrating singing songs, making Easter themed food and learning about the real meaning of Easter.

“Our eggs will be here this week, it’s really nice for the children to see them born and learn about them growing, last year we kept them until they’d grown into chickens too.

“The dinosaur egg experience allowed the children to thrive in many areas of the curriculum such as shape, space and measure as well as helping to develop their language skills.”
