Work to start on £33k play improvements

The money is being used to replace children’s play equipment at Frobisher Drive Park.

The Fylde Council project, designed in conjunction with the Friends of Frobisher Drive Park, involves replacing all existing equipment with new swings, a basket swing, a slide, a roundabout and see-saw.

The work also includes a dog-proof fence around the play area, installation of safety surfaces and a new path to the playground.

Johanna Wood, Fylde Council’s landscape design and development officer, said: “Children will love the new equipment as the old equipment was old and lacking in any real play value.

“We are pleased to be providing a completely revamped scheme for local children and families.

“The small Friends group has been very supportive and deserve thanks from everyone in the area who appreciates their park.”

Work is expected to end mid-late June.

The £33,000 will pay for equipment including two infant swing units, a slide, a T-cup roundabout, park furniture as well as the removal of redundant play equipment.

Other improvements planned at the park include disguising some unsightly fence panels with shrubs and other plants to improve the visual appearance as well as encouraging birds and butterflies.
