Woman taken to hospital after crash outside school in Thornton

Crews from Fleetwood were called to attend the accident outside Sacred Heart Catholic Primary on Heys Street just before 10am on Thursday, May 24.

Firefighters say that nobody was trapped in the incident and after an initial precautionary check by paramedics the woman was transported to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We were called to a collision between a black Vauxhall Astra and a blue Honda HRV outside the school this morning.

"On arrival woman remained in her car but was not trapped. She was checked over and taken to hospital with minor injuries."

The road remained closed for around an hour while the scene was cleared.
