Woman cut from car after crash in Knott End

A woman had to be cut out of her vehicle after she was involved in a three car smash in Knott End , say fire services.

Crews from Blackpool and Preesall were called to Lancaster Road near Pilling Lane at around 7.45pm on Monday, February 12 and used cutting equipment to remove the roof from the car.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We cut a female occupant out of her car for medical reasons.

"We received a report of a three vehicle crash on the road.

"All the other occupants were out of their cars on arrival but there was one woman who was in a mini who had a suspected broken leg and was unable to get out of her car.

"She needed extricating by fire services.

"She was in a lot of pain and the decision was made with the paramedics to bring her out using a long board.

"We used hydraulic cutting equipment to take the roof of the car.

"The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital."

The road was closed for a short time and diversions were put in place.

Fire crews remained at the scene for around 45 minutes.
