Police rushed to Lord Street after ambulance crews reported they were concerned for the safety of a woman shortly before 2pm today (July 29).

The woman fell from a building on the street and suffered multiple "serious" injuries, including a head injury.

She was reportedly airlifted to hospital for treatment but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, according to police.

Images from the scene sent to the Blackpool Gazette show paramedics treating the patient and several police cars in the vicinity.

Two more police vehicles and an air ambulance were also spotted on Comedy Carpet near Blackpool Tower.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called by the ambulance service to reports of a concern for safety in Lord Street, Blackpool, just before 2pm today.

"A woman in her 50s has fallen from a building and has received multiple serious injuries.

"She has been airlifted to hospital where her condition is described as serious but not life-threatening."

Officers have confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

North West Ambulance Service have confirmed they sent two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and an air ambulance to the scene.

A spokesman said: "A female in her 50s was taken to hospital. She had head injuries."
