Woman, 26, arrested on suspicion of drink driving after Finsbury Avenue crash

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a crash in Blackpool last night (June 24).

The 26-year-old has been arrested after a white Kia overturned in Finsbury Avenue at 7.30pm, trapping two adults and a child inside.

Ambulance and fire crews attended and the casualties were helped from the wreck and rushed to hospital.

Both of the adults suffered head injuries, but North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said these were not major trauma.

NWAS said it was unable to provide details on the child.

An NWAS spokesman said: "We were called yesterday at 7.30pm to reports of a road traffic collision.

"We attended with two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a land resource from the air ambulance and a see and treat resource.

"There were three patients altogether taken to hospital, one male, one female and child.

"Both adults had head injuries but there was no major trauma."

The driver has since been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at about 7.30pm to reports of a collision in Finsbury Avenue in Blackpool.

"No serious injuries were reported.

"A woman aged 26 was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in custody."

A fire service spokesman added: "Firefighters from South Shore and Blackpool were called to reports of a road traffic collision in Finsbury Avenue, Blackpool where there were casualties reportedly trapped.

"On arrival firefighters found a vehicle on its side on the roadway, however crews were only required to assist police in making the scene safe.

"They were in attendance approximately fifteen minutes."
