Last year, the landmark saw some 26,000 visitors through its doors and is well on the way to topping that figure, with total attendance figures since the start of the season at Easter already around the 18,000 mark. That includes visitors from as far afield as Australia and the USA as well as many school parties.

The museum, run by Lytham Heritage Group, and now in its 26th year, has new displays including a exhibit of training manoeuvres on Lytham Green to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War and museum co-ordinator Steve Williams said: “It has been a great season so far and wonderful to welcome to many visitors.”

The season continues until September 14 and the mill is open Wednesdays to Sundays from 10.30am to 4.30pm, with admission free.
