During one of the burglaries, Dagger stopped to make himself a sandwich and a cup of coffee before leaving with stolen goods.

CCTV footage released by police shows him inside one of the businesses. Officers said he was also seen in distinctive clothing while scouting out premises before returning to commit the burglaries.

Following enquiries by the Fylde Rural Task Force, Dagger was identified and later charged with five counts of burglary, along with breaching court bail linked to a previous investigation.

Dagger, 52, of no fixed address, was sentenced at court last month to four years and six months in prison.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “Fylde Rural Task Force hope this result reassures our community that we take burglaries seriously and will continue to take robust action against those who target local businesses.”
