A round-up of the community events from across the Fylde coast over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Victoria Hotel Community Association family fun day

Charities clubbed together to host a fund-raiser fun day.

Groups and organisations from across the Fylde coast came together to host stalls, games and live music in Beauclerk Gardens in St Annes.

Victoria Hotel Community Association organised the event, held on Saturday, to encourage charities to work together and generous donations to them from the community.

Organiser Nettie Draper said: “It was a great day.”

The Victoria Hotel Community Assocition alone raised more than £300, with other organisations raising hundreds for themselves.

A tug of war, a vintage steam roller, rugby players training, a bouncy castle and a bar to boot - Fylde rugby club’s fun day had something for everyone.

The club’s Foxy the Fylde mascot was on hand to oversee families enjoying everything from welly throwing to a children’s entertainer.

The event took place at the rugby club’s Woodlands Memorial Ground, on Blackpool Road, Ansdell, on Saturday afternoon.

Fylde coast favourites Illyria brought the last of three open air productions to Lytham Hall at the weekend as Babe the Sheep-Pig took centre stage in a show designed for all the family.

St Annes Cricket Club fun day

Police and fire crews were called to a cricket club open day - but all in the name of family fun.

Fire engines were open up for children to explore and learn about and police dog handlers took a dog and officer dressed in safety gear to show off the dog’s skills at St Annes Cricket Club fun day yesterday.

Worldwise Samba Drummers played for visitors before teaching children how to drum and inviting them to perform with them.

And classic cars and motorbikes,were available to look round in a vehicle display, along with fairground rides and games for children.

More than 200 people turned out for the fund-raising event at the cricket club on Vernon Road.

Organiser Chris Joy said: “It was a brilliant day. It was a fundraiser for a children’s playground, we hope to raise about £1,000.”

San Marco restaurant

A restaurant dedicated its usual Tuesday night cabaret performance to helping raise funds for charity.

The night took place at San Marco’s, on Lytham Road, South Shore, to raise funds in aid of the Bingo Animal Sanctuary, in Portugal.

The sanctuary was set up by Anji McDowell while living there last year.
