The fire, which started after a mechanical fault around 3.30pm on Monday, then spread to grass on the hard shoulder.
Crews from Wesham, with support from Blackpool, helped to put out the blaze close to Broughton.
A Lancashire Fire spokesman confirmed no injuries were reported.
