'Very best of luck'- Fylde MP Andrew Snowden backs Blackpool for City of Culture MP
Blackpool’s bid is carrying on it’s momentum.
Fylde MP Andrew Snowden has re-backed his support behind Blackpool’s City of Culture bid after it was confirmed that the town made the final four shortlist yesterday.
It was announced that Blackpool had reached the final shortlist stage early this morning, alongside Milton Keynes, Sheffield and Wrexham.
Andrew Snowden has renewed his support for the bid, claiming a win could be ‘positive’ news for both Blackpool and the wider Fylde Coast. He told the Gazette: “It's great news that Blackpool has been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2029.

“This can only be a positive thing for Blackpool, the wider Fylde Coast and Lancashire as a whole, bringing opportunities for tourism, investment and local businesses.
“I was pleased to back the original bid alongside fellow Lancashire MPs, and wish everyone involved the very best of luck, with the full support of your neighbours here in Fylde.”
The winner of the UK City of Culture 2029 will be announced in January 2027, securing £10m in government funding to deliver a year-long cultural festival and a place in the history books.
