An application for variation of the premises licence was submitted to Wyre Council’s licensing department and the licensing committee made a decision after meeting on April 28.

The variation was originally seeking to amend the supply of alcohol (consumption on and off the premises) until 1am every day and increase opening times until 1.30am every day.

But Wyre’s Environmental Health (EH), who objected to the proposals, engaged in mediation with the applicants and new times were agreed.

An EH representative stated: “ Following discussions with the applicant’s agent, conditions relating to the prevention of public nuisance have now been agreed.

“The terminal hour (when the sale of alcohol must stop) being midnight from Sunday to Thursday, and 1am on Friday going into Saturday, and 1am on Saturday going into Sunday.”

Councillors agreed to these changes and, accordingly, the opening hours have been extended to 1.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Refuse such as bottles shall not be disposed of, from the premises, between 8pm and 7am so that it minimises the likelihood of causing disturbance to residents in the vicinity of the premises.

Lancashire Police additionally recommended that on all days that non-standard hours are in operation, a minimum of two SIA (Security Industry Authority) registered door staff will be on duty from 10pm until close.

The council typically issues the written decision notice within five working days of the hearing.
