UPDATED: Man named after beach find

A man found on Lytham foreshore has been named by police.

The body of Michael Currie, 39, from Blackpool, was found at 2pm on Sunday.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “His death is not being treated as suspicious, however police are investigating how Mr Currie has come to be in the water.

“Next of kin have been informed.”

Several police cars were spotted at the incident opposite Lytham Windmill.

On Sunday, a spokesman for Lancashire police said: “Police were called at shortly before 2pm this afternoon following a report that a body had been found approximately half a mile from the shore in Lytham estuary. His death is not being treated as suspicious and enquiries are on-going to establish his identity.”
