Tyre blow-out leaves driver upside down

A motorist had a lucky escape after his car was flipped on to its roof at a busy junction near a pub.

The male driver escaped from this wreck with just an elbow injury after his blue Renault Kangoo ended up on its roof on the mini-roundabout close to the Blossoms pub on Blackpool Road, Ansdell at 9pm on Monday.

Lancashire Police is investigating reports from witnesses who said the car suffered a tyre blow-out before hitting a lamp-post and landing upside down on the road.

The driver was helped from the car by passers-by before he was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.

Police closed the road for a short time to clear away the car and debris from the crash.

Posting on Facebook, one witness said: “Lucky escape for the driver I think, glad he is OK.”
