Two people have been saved from the Irish Sea at Blackpool in separate overnight rescue missions.

Lytham Coastguard and RNLI Blackpool rushed to Central Pier following reports a person had been spotted in the sea at around 1.10am today (October 5).

When they arrived on the scene they found the person was in the care of ambulance crews after being saved from the water by Blackpool Police.

Crews also discovered police had assisted a second person from the Irish Sea in a separate nearby incident.

If you see a coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
