Woman taken to hospital after car crashes into wall in Blackpool

A woman has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a wall in Blackpool last night (Thursday, April 29).

Police paramedics and fire crews rushed to the scene in Greenwood Avenue, off Whitegate Drive, after the car ploughed into a wall at around 10.30pm.

The woman, who had been driving the car, suffered neck and leg injuries and was treated at the scene before she was taken to hospital.

Police closed Greenwood Avenue for an hour whilst fire crews helped make the scene safe and the car was recovered.

An ambulance spokesman said: "We attended the scene with a rapid response vehicle, emergency ambulance, and an advanced paramedic and took a female patient to the hospital with potential neck and leg injuries."

A fire service spokesman added: "Two fire crews from South Shore and Blackpool assisted at a road traffic collision in Greenwood Avenue.

"The incident involved a car that had collided with a wall and a casualty.

"Crews assisted in making the scene safe and ambulance crews treated the casualty before transferring them to hospital.

"Firefighters were in attendance around one hour."

Lancashire Police have been approached for further details.
