But the convoy of caravans and motor homes has since set up camp at North Beach car park - just 1.5 miles away on North Promenade.

There are also reports of another illegal beach front encampment on a car park near the RNLI Lifeboat station in South Promenade.

Yesterday, Fylde Council said: "We are aware of the Beach Terrace car park premises and we are taking all measures possible to investigate the illegal encampment working with partners."

A spokesman for Fylde Council said: "The illegal encampment is now based on North Beach Car Park in St Anne’s and officers are following the appropriate procedure to remove the encampment from public space as soon as possible.

"Any additional factors as a result of the COVID 19 measures are being considered."
