
Officers were called to reports that a "boy had been found hanging" at an address on Medlock Avenue at around 5pm on Thursday May 18.
The 15-year-old, who has been named on social media as Keelan Groves, was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and later transferred to Manchester Children's Hospital where he died several days later.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called by ambulance services last Thursday to reports that a boy had been found hanging.
"The boy was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and transferred to Manchester Children's Hospital.
