Section of Blackpool Promenade closed due to 'unsafe building'

The Promenade between Derby Road and Wilton Parade will be closed as an 'emergency measure' due to an 'unsafe building'.

Blackpool Council said the building - believed to be the former Ambassador Hotel - is located on the corner of the Promenade and Derby Road.

Diversions have been put in place from today (November 19) and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

Council officers said the building will be assessed before action is taken to make it safe "over the coming days."

A spokesman for Blackpool Council said: "Due to an unsafe building on the corner of Derby Road, the Promenade between Derby Road and Wilton Parade will be closed as an emergency measure.

"Diversions are in place. The building will be assessed and action taken to make it safe over the coming days."
