Roadworks update for the North West: All major works from October 12 to October 18

The following summary of planned new and ongoing roadworks over the coming week is correct as of October 9 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

M6 junction 36

A £7m maintenance project along the A590 between Brettargh Holt junction and the M6 at junction 36 includes improvements at the motorway roundabout itself (including resurfacing and installing new bridge joints). The four-month project started on September 4 and involves traffic management – including closures – at the roundabout at times.

There will be a full overnight closure of the roundabout October 9, 10 and 11 - 10pm to 6am on Friday night, 8pm to 6am on Saturday night and 8pm to 3am on Sunday night. The south bridge at the motorway roundabout is currently closed around the clock with no access from the southbound M6 or A65 and signed diversions in place.

There will be a brief closure of the northbound exit slip road at junction 36 on October 13 from around 9.30pm. The dual carriageway between the M6 and Brettargh Holt roundabout will also be closed briefly between 9.30pm and 10pm on Tuesday night.

M55 junctions 1 to 3

Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are now in place along a short stretch of the motorway where a new junction (junction 2) is being constructed as part of Lancashire County Council’s Preston Western Distributor road project.

A585 Windy Harbour to Skippool improvement

Work to deliver a £150m new bypass and junction improvements is now underway. Forthcoming overnight (7pm to 4am) roadworks include temporary traffic lights along the A585 Garstang New Road section on October 12 and 13 ; narrow lanes at Windy Harbour junction on October 13 and 14 and narrow lanes at Little Singleton junction on October 15 and 16 October.
