The following summary of planned new and ongoing roadworks over the coming week is correct as of November 6 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

M6 junction 32 to junction 38

The Highways Agency is working overnight in the verges along the northbound M6 until November 18. Short sections of lane one will be closed overnight while we do this routine maintenance. The closures are not expected to cause any delays to drivers’ journeys.

Overnight work to renew road markings is taking place between the two junctions until November 17 (work has been extended by a week due to the recent heavy rainfall). Some overnight lane or slip road closures and will be required.

M6 under junction 36

The northbound M6 will be closed at junction 36 for carriageway repairs on November 9 and 10 from 8pm to 6am each night. A simple ‘up and over’ diversion will be in place with drivers being directed off the northbound carriageway along the exit slip road at junction 36 and back on again using the entry slip road. On November 11 the northbound entry slip road will be closed between 8pm and 6am – drivers will be able to access the southbound M6 and join the northbound M6 from junction 35.

M55 junctions 1 to 3

Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are now in place along a short stretch of the motorway where a new junction (junction 2) is being constructed as part of Lancashire County Council’s Preston Western Distributor road project

A585 Windy Harbour to Skippool improvement

Work to deliver a £150m new bypass and junction improvements is now underway. Temporary traffic lights will be in use during the day at Lodge Lane Garstang Road East on November 9 and 10. Temporary traffic lights will also operate overnight all week, between 7pm and 4am at the Shard, Singleton and Skippool junctions.

A month-long, £850,000 project to resurface and provide new road markings along sections of both the northbound and southbound carriageway for about three and a half miles between the M55 and Windy Harbour junction will start on November 16 with temporary traffic light in place – between 8pm and 6am – for five nights.

From November 21 there will be nightly full overnight carriageway closures – between 8pm and 6am - each night and with clearly-signed diversions running between Poulton-le-Fylde, Blackpool, Little Plumpton and Wesham. During the day, a 30mph speed limit will be in place. Traffic management is being coordinated with the A585 Windy Harbour to Skippool bypass project to avoid clashes on the A585 or any diversion routes using the local road network.
