Blackpool Transport tweeted: "Service 9 will be diverting from Moor Park Health Centre to Devonshire Road and onto Warbreck Hill Road, cannot service Hollyoak Avenue or the Squirrel."

Mark Eastham, a taxi driver, said: "They had shut the road off from The Squirrel all the way up to Moor Park.

"One of the cars was overturned and it looked like another car had been hit.

"I saw two fire engines, two ambulances and about a dozen police cars. It looked like a big crash.

"I came across it about 9am. The road was completely shut with traffic being diverted around it, and it made quite a bit of congestion on Devonshire Road where they were diverting it to."
