Layton is set to lose its Service 9 bus route for five months due to roadworks.
Bus bosses have announced the closure of Crossleys Bridge – on Friday – will see changes to services.
It means that some Blackpool Transport bus services will be diverted while work goes on through the winter to replace the bridge.
The decision has been taken to amend the relevant timetables in an attempt to allow for the additional operating time and delays that may happen as a result of the works.
Service 9 will run on a reduced frequency of every 12 minutes during the daytime Monday to Saturday to allow extra running time to be added to each journey.
Layton won’t be served during this time as Service 9 will be diverted via Warbreck Hill Road, Devonshire Road and back to its normal route on Talbot Road.
Service 9a will now run as Service 8 and operate key journeys only between Cleveleys and Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
Services 5, 7 and 14 are also likely to be affected as a result of increased traffic.
Blackpool Transport managing director Jane Cole said: “We will be doing all we can to get our customers to their destinations during what is going to be a difficult five months. The separation of Services 8 and 9 should help and we’ve put more buses into the service to help cope with the expected delays.”
