Cyclist seriously injured in Fleetwood roundabout crash

A man in his 80s has been seriously injured after he was knocked off his bike in Fleetwood last night (Thursday, April 22).

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene at the Eros roundabout, between Fleetwood Road and Amounderness Way, at around 8pm.

They found the elderly pensioner with serious injuries after he was involved in a crash with a Vauxhall Corsa on the roundabout.

North West Ambulance Service said the man had suffered a "serious head injury."

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Lancashire Police has not yet confirmed whether the Corsa driver stopped at the scene or if anyone has been arrested.

The force has been approached for further details.

Blackpool Transport diverted its service 14 bus via Rossall Lane, Broadway and Larkholme Lane until around 10pm.

A police spokesman said: "It happened at around 8pm at the Eros Roundabout in Amounderness Way/ Fleetwood Road and involved a Vauxhall Corsa and a cyclist in his 80s.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition."
