A cyclist was involved in a collision with a car as he was travelling along Cleveleys Avenue at around 3pm today (October 26).

The cyclist, a man in his 70s, was found with "serious leg injuries" when emergency services arrived at the scene.

Police had closed Cleveleys Avenue in both directions and motorists were advised to avoid the area, but the road has since reopened.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We currently have road closures in place on Cleveleys Avenue, close to the junction with York Avenue, after a car was involved in a collision with a cyclist.

"The cyclist, a man in his 70s, has suffered a serious leg injury and is being treated by paramedics."
