Crash near Fleetwood High School closes Broadway in both directions

A crash outside Fleetwood High School has forced police to close Broadway in both directions this morning (Tuesday, December 8).

The road is currently closed from the gates of Fleetwood High School to West View roundabout, leading to heavy traffic in the area.

Emergency services, including two fire engines and ambulance crews, are at the scene.

Lancashire Police said it is a "damage-only" crash involving a single car, with no injuries reported.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called at 7.27am and an ambulance went to the scene, but we haven’t taken anyone to hospital. No injuries suffered."

Pictures from the scene show a dark-coloured car that has mounted the pavement and crashed into traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing near the junction with Leyburn Avenue.

A set of traffic lights have been knocked down and a lamp post has also been damaged.

Repairs are expected to take place today, with a possible road closure to be put in place whilst crews carry out the work.

The road closure is expected to cause problems for traffic heading to Fleetwood High School this morning.
